About Dee

cCYC, BHSc, CCAC, CT, RTC

Hello! My name is Deanna, and you may call me Dee. I am passionate about supporting meaningful transformation, offering a grounded, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for self-discovery and healing. My approach is rooted in the belief that true growth happens when we engage with both our strengths and our struggles, creating space for lasting change.

As a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, Certified Addiction Counsellor, and Certified Child and Youth Counsellor, I have over 14 years of experience in addiction recovery and supporting individuals impacted by childhood trauma and other life challenges, and those who want to experience a new way of being. Together, we will explore emotional, physical, creative, and spiritual dimensions of your life to support you in your own healing journey.

Creativity and nature are central to my own grounding and healing. Whether it’s practicing yoga, playing golf, immersing myself in the outdoors, or simply finding stillness with a good book, I believe that cultivating wonder and creativity helps us reconnect with our truest selves. I bring that same sense of curiosity and reverence for the human experience into my work with clients.

A Therapist Who Understands That Healing Is Personal

My own journey has shaped the way I understand healing.

Growing up with grief, emotional silence and instability, I learned early to suppress my needs and question whether my feelings mattered. Like many people, I developed ways of coping that helped me navigate difficult experiences at the time, but eventually left me feeling disconnected from myself and from the relationships I wanted.

Over time, my own healing taught me the importance of making space for grief, understanding the impact of our early experiences, developing healthy boundaries and learning to trust our own voice.

Today I bring that understanding, along with my professional training and experience, into my work with clients.

I believe therapy can be a place where you don’t have to perform, have all the answers, or pretend you’re okay. It can be a place to be genuinely seen, understood and supported as you discover what healing means for you.

3 things about me

MY CONNECTION

I feel most connected to Spirit when I’m outside. There’s something about being in nature that helps me slow down, breathe, and remember what really matters. I’ve always loved the symbolism of the dragonfly — transformation, change, and the beautiful possibility of seeing life from a new perspective. It feels like a pretty perfect reminder that we are always growing and becoming.

FAMILY

I’m a mom to three amazing humans and a grandma to three beautiful girls. They are truly the joy in my heart and the light in my life. Family, connection and the relationships we have with the people we love mean so much to me — and I think that’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to the work I do.

MY AUSSIE ROOTS

Australia will always feel like a piece of home to me. My deep connection to the ocean brings me back to walking along the shoreline, listening to the waves and looking for seashells to add to my ever-growing collection. And then there are koalas. ❤️ As an Aussie, I have a serious soft spot for them. They remind me of my nurturing side — gentle, grounded and happiest when I’m taking care of the people and things I love. And honestly… one can never have too many koalas!

A Heart-Centred, Whole-Person Approach to Therapy

I believe meaningful healing involves more than simply managing symptoms. It can involve understanding the experiences that shaped you, developing a deeper relationship with yourself, and creating space for emotional, mental, relational, physical and spiritual well-being.

My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed and holistic, integrating transpersonal psychotherapy, mindfulness and other evidence-informed therapeutic approaches based on your individual needs.

There is no single path to healing. Our work together is guided by your experiences, values, goals and readiness.

For some people, therapy is about healing from trauma or grief. For others, it may involve breaking long-standing patterns, navigating an identity transition, reconnecting with their authentic self, or exploring spirituality and meaning.

Therapy isn't about fixing what's broken. I believe you already have the capacity for growth within you.

Sometimes we simply need guidance, support, and a safe place to uncover the person we've always been beneath the fear.
